Dermalogica's Peptide Lip Treatment combines Palmitoyl Tripeptide-38 (a collagen-stimulating signal peptide) with cross-linked hyaluronic acid and white tea extract. The formulation targets perioral fine lines and lip volume — the area where topical peptides have the thinnest evidence but the highest consumer demand. Palmitoyl Tripeptide-38 is a synthetic collagen-fragment mimic (related to the Matrixyl family) that signals fibroblasts to increase collagen I, III, and IV synthesis. In the delicate lip tissue, where the stratum corneum is thinner and penetration is easier, the peptide has a biomechanical advantage over facial application. The added HA provides immediate plumping via water binding, while the peptide supports longer-term structural improvement.
